The head office has been nominated in the Commercial Buildings - Design Stage category and four other candidates from the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. An independent jury has compiled the shortlist based on the highest BREEAM assessment performance and projects' particularity.
Flamco Group scored exceptionally high with 90% according to the BREEAM assessment method. In mid-2020, Flamco Group received the BREEAM "Outstanding" design certificate for the new office building at Fort Blauwkapel in Almere. "Also, the building design is special because it is completely energy-neutral, both building-related and user-related installations," explains BREEAM expert Tom Linneman of Linneman Bouw en Advies. Linneman, who guides Aalberts hydronic flow control to build as sustainably as possible, is hopeful that she will win by combining the high score and particularity.
BREEAM makes sustainable construction integrally measurable and is the most widely used certification method in Europe. The BREEAM Awards are presented annually for the sustainable performance of buildings. The BREEAM Awards will be judged online this year due to the coronavirus. The award ceremony is scheduled for March 25, 2021 at 6:00 PM. Completion of the new building will take place in June 2021.
